Heidi is a proud native Oregonian and has been a Tigard resident since 2016.
Hi! I’m Heidi, and I’m running for reelection as your City Councilor.
My family immigrated from Germany and my brother and I were the first in my family to be born here in the United States. I was raised by a single mom who worked and it was my grandmother who often took care of me. My upbringing taught me the importance of family and how important it is to care for each other.
My husband and I fell in love with Tigard. We were happy to move here and knew we were lucky enough to be able to afford a home. We’re incredibly excited to be starting a family here and cannot wait to show our little girl everything we love about Tigard. One of the things that I appreciate the most about Tigard is the people. From volunteers who give their time on boards and committees, to the business community that not only supports each other but the city, and all of the residents who give tirelessly of their time and money. Tigard is unique and special because of it’s people.
As your City Councilor, community matters to me. I succeeded because of the supportive community I had growing up—from my grandmother who raised me to do my best every day, to my neighbor who drove me to ballet classes a few days a week, and to my teachers who saw potential and invested in me. That’s why I will continue to invest in getting to know all of our community members and raising their concerns and needs as we face each of the issues.
I’ve learned a lot as your City Councilor since January 2019, and I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish. Below are a few highlights:
- Affordable Housing Plan
- Passage of the Police Safety Levy
- Public Safety Transformation Commission & Anti-Racism Action Plan
There is still so much work to do and I’m ready to continue the work.
I am running for reelection so that I can continue to fight for you. Tigard should be a place where everyone feels at home and can reach their full potential.
That’s why I’m asking for your vote on November 3rd.
